You can create a blank project, clone an existing one or import from Microsoft Project. Cloning a project copies tasks, assignments, documents and other information.
Celoxis offers project phases that have business rules associated with them. eg. when in Planning phase, emails are not sent to any task owners as it is assumed that the plan is not yet final. When ready for execution, you must change the phase to In Progress. Emails will then be sent out to all task owners and they will see the tasks in their My Tasks list. If a project is postponed, you can put in the On-Hold phase and the tasks will be removed from the My Tasks list.
When importing a Microsoft Project plan, all information such as resource assignments, dependencies and so on is imported. A project in Celoxis can also be exported to Microsoft Project, replanned and reimported into Celoxis. For more details read 2-Way Synchronization with Microsoft Project (Section 7.5).
In Celoxis you can create project categories to classify your projects and capture custom information for different kinds of project.
