Celoxis allows you to set up clients in a hierarchical manner. This way you can run aggregate reports for an entire company or for a client department or specific client.
Say Acme is the company for which you do projects for two departments eBusiness and Hardware. Assume that Joe is the contact points in the eBusiness department while Mary is the contact point for the Hardware department. You will need to create 5 clients: Acme, eBusiness, Hardware, Joe and Mary and set Acme as the parent group of eBusiness and Hardware, eBusiness as the parent group of Joe and Hardware as the parent group of Mary. Visually:
Acme
Acme > eBusiness
Acme > eBusiness > Joe
Acme > Hardware
Acme > Hardware > Mary
Reporting Benefits: The main benefit of having hierarchy is reporting. When Acme is selected as a client for reporting purposes, it selects all projects under Acme, if eBusiness is selected, then it selects all projects under eBusiness. Thus you can get reports by departments or by the company without having to select all individual client contacts. Login Implications: When some one logs in using Acme's credentials (username and password), he/she will see projects for everyone under Acme. If the user had logged in using eBusiness's credentials, then he/she will see all projects under eBusiness.
