Time entries can be Billable, Costable or both. Billable time is borne by the client and added to project billing. Costable time is borne by you and added to project cost. Time entries are automatically marked Billable and/or Costable as described below.
Time is marked as Costable if the associated time code is Costable. For example, the time code "Unpaid Vacation" will not be costable, while "Paid Vacation" will be.
Time is marked as Billable if the charging model for the associated project is set as Hourly.
The manager can change the Costable/Billable attribute during approval. It is important to note that project cost/billing is updated only when the time entry is approved.
Billable Time = Billing Rate of the time code on the date of the time entry * hours filled in the time entry.Costable Time = User Cost Rate for the date of the time entry * hours filled in the time entry.![]() | Tip |

It is beneficial to create a time code which is Costable but not Billable. For example, this can be used to fill time which has exceeded the planned hours of a task. This will help you understand the amount you could have billed the client had you estimated correctly. |
